Can I move a device from my old car to my new car?

Yes, most TG Tracking devices can be transferred from one vehicle to another. If you’re using a plug-and-play device (like an OBD-II unit), you can simply unplug it and install it in your new vehicle. For hard-wired or professionally installed units, we recommend having the device removed and reinstalled by a qualified technician to ensure proper functionality and avoid any wiring issues. Just contact TG Tracking’s support team if you need assistance with transferring or reinstalling your device.

Yes, many TG Tracking devices are insurance approved, especially those designed for vehicle recovery and theft prevention. TG Tracking works with various insurance providers—particularly in regions like South Africa—to offer devices that meet insurer requirements for security, recovery mode, tamper alerts, and real-time tracking.

However, approval may depend on your insurer’s specific list of accepted devices, so it’s best to confirm with your insurance company or contact TG Tracking directly for a certificate of compliance or approved models.

Yes, TG Tracking devices are designed for cross-border tracking. Most devices come with global SIM cards and roaming capabilities, allowing you to maintain real-time tracking even when you travel internationally. Whether you’re driving across neighboring countries or moving between continents, your device will continue to operate—provided there’s network coverage (cellular, LPWAN, or satellite depending on your device).

Not by default. TG Tracking devices can record driving behaviour (like speed, harsh braking, and acceleration), but this data is typically visible only to you or your fleet manager through the TG platform.

However, if your insurance policy is part of a telematics-based or usage-based insurance (UBI) program, your insurer may request access to this data with your consent. In such cases, you would be informed and may need to sign a data-sharing agreement.
